Just apply for something that requires them to run your credit report. Especially if you are denied credit the credit company that supplied that inforomation has to supply you a free copy of your credit report.

Go to annuualcreditreport.com. This is a federally-mandated opportunity for every citizen to obtain a no-obligation free credit report each year from all three agencies. You’ll only be charged if you want to purchase additonal services (like a FICO score).

I got my credit report online for free from one of the companies (experian). You can also get your report from the other two companies (transunion and equifax) fro free but you have to do it by mail, etc. In the site you have a good explanation. I hope it helps.
Note: you are supposed to be able to get your report for free once a year.
