How can I remove negative information from credit report?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Curiosity Killed Your Cat Not Me asked:

I opened a credit card account through my old employer (Circuit City) in 2001 when I was 17. I made payments on time until 2002 when I joined the Armed Forces and was unable to pay on my account due to not having the account information available at the time. Consequently, it was keyed negative on my credit report and by the time I was done with Basic Training it went to collections. The collection agency was sending bills to collect the debt back home. When I had the chance to receive the letters, I called the collection agency and made an arrangement to pay the debt. The credit bureau then marked it as a charge off; paid in full on my credit report. After a few years I tried disputing this hoping to get it removed, but the bank denied the request. So I’ve been suffering since and now its 2007. I guess I supposed to wait until 2009. My questions are, can I get this removed and when it is removed will my credit score rise? When inquiries disappear from my credit report, will it rise?

How do I clear small collections from credit report?

master stghm asked:

I have a small collections of $79 dollars on my credit report from Experian that I wasn’t aware of until my credit union told me.

I will pay it, because I remember what happened and I do owe the money, but I don’t want it to stay on my credit report even after I’ve paid it. How can I get them to erase it?

How long does a small collections amount stay on your credit report?

I checked my wife’s credit report and she has a small collections amount of $23. She was unaware of it and thinks it may have been from her divorce. She thinks her ex-husband never took care of it or failed to provide the bill to her. I’m paying it off so that it’s taken care of but wonder how long it will be on her credit report. With it being paid off now, is it going to hurt her credit for the next 7 years?

What action can you take against a false collections claim on your credit report?

A prior cable provider has a collections claim on my credit report for $35. When moving away from the area (2 years ago) they do not show that I returned the cable modem (which I did). I was not aware of this until I went to refinance my auto loan. I called the company two weeks ago today and they were looking into the issue. Since then I have spoke to 5 different people and no one is calling me back - and I have called 30+ times where the call is unable to connect because the lines are all full.

I want this off of my credit report because it is hurting my ability to refinance at the low rate. I tried disputing it with Experian and it came back as a confirmed current claim.

I had an account in collections that I did not even know that was there until I pulled my credit report and I payed the full balance. Now it says it’s PAID/CLOSED but it still on my credit report. When does this come off my credit report? Or should I say how long does this take to come off my credit report?
