Does anyone know where I can get a free credit report If I’ve already gotten my one free one?
lil_missy asked:
You get one free credit report a year from the government, and I’ve already gotten that one. Is there any way I can get a second one for free. I believe someone is stealing my identity so this is pretty important that I find out. I don’t have a credit card either!!! Please help!!!

Annualcreditreport.com
They are free (they meaning from all 3 credit bureaus)…you could spread out and get one every 4 mos. Hope that helps and good luck.

isn’t the best site, it’s the only site. This is the site the government mandated credit companies to use to allow you to see your credit for free once a year. There are three companies. You get one freebie from each company once a year. Experts say to check a different one every four months so you get a good watch over your credit over the year.
You get one free one a year from each credit monitoring service. That means you actually get three free checks a year.

I think you are entitled one a year free and if that is used , then you have to pay one of those ads that say free credit report, but be careful, sometimes they have terms of service that sign you up for monthly credit monitoring. Enter Experian or better yet, enter credit rating reports or credit reports and see which is rhe least expensive way.

You can call and ask for one because you believe you have identity problems. They may forgo the fee. you can get as many reports as you want if you pay for them, OR if you apply for credit and are turned down. But the free one is just once per year unless there are special circumstances. This sounds like it qualifies for “special” to me.

You don’t get diddly “from the government!” By law, the 3 major reporting agencies have to provide you, upon your request, with one free credit report per year from each one of them. The bureaus set up annualcreditreport.com as the vehicle for making requests, identifying yourself properly, and securely delivering your free copy of your report.
What makes you think someone has stolen your identity? And what makes you think that there is going to be a trace of it on your credit report?
A very substantial portion of identity theft does not show up on a credit report in the form of new accounts! They hijack existing accounts and deduct from your bank accounts, or put charges on your existing & genuine credit cards. That type of activity, the only way to catch it is to review your bills and bank statements regularly.
Another type of identity theft steals your SSN and the thief works under your SSN and sticks you with the income tax bills. This type is almost exclusively done by illegal aliens — they can work illegally, but have a legit, verifiable SSN to deceive the employer, while sticking someone else with the income taxes (not the Social Security & Medicare taxes, however).
Now, what makes you think something is going to show up on your credit report? Have you been denied credit? Then you can get a free credit report from the bureau which provided the report the denial was based on so that you can check for errors.
Are you getting bills from credit cards, stores, etc, where you have never opened an account? You need to contact the place that is billing you to sort this out. The credit bureau can’t do diddly yet — in fact trying to solve that one thru the credit reporting bureaus is the dumbest and nearly-guaranteed-to-fail method.
