If someone other than you has used your social security number to secure credit then it will show up on your credit report.

If you go to annualcreditreport.com you can check your report from the three credit bureaus for free. You can only get a FREE credit report from each of the three bureaus once a year. If you suspect that your SSN has been stolen I would suggest to check at least 2 of your reports now, then wait a few months and check the 3rd for any unusual activity.

Another thing to do is to call up one of the credit bureaus and have them put a freeze on your account, which will require any credit companies to verify identification before opening credit on your SSN. Once you contact one of the bureaus, it will in turn notify the other two.

If you go to annualcreditreport.com you can get a free credit reporting where it tells you all of the loans, credit cards and companies that have ran your credit in your lifetime. There if you see suspicious activity you can dispute it with the credit bureaus. Good Luck
