Is there a way to remove bad history from your credit report?
david r asked:
I made some errors with my credit when I was younger. I have been doing great at keeping a good credit history now that I’m more mature and understand the importance of credit (last 3 years). However, my old mistakes are still hunting me. I read somewhere that it can take 7 to 10 years for a bad entry in your credit report to be dropped. Is there a way I can remove those sooner?

no there isn’t.
However, if you have good credit for the past 3 years, this will go along way.
Keep it up and it will only get better.

There is no legitimate way to remove negative records from your credit history. It’s seven years for the negative items to drop off, and they have less impact on your score as you improve your payment history and reduce your total indebtedness.
Bankruptcy stays on for 10 years. So, you just have four more years until those items fall off, unless you also declared bankruptcy.

after 7 years in most states the original creditor comes off but the collection will stay for 7 and just pryor to that date they will sell the account so it keeps its life. Pay the collections and stay current with all others and you too can recover. NOW just so you know. Pay them by money order or cashiers checks but before you even do that get a settlement in WRITING first and never give them account info. Once paid it should report paid collection in the next report. If not send your proof with a dispute to the credit reporting company’s. Also start at the bottom and work your way up as you get a feeling that you are on your way with each passing account
