Laura Renee asked:

I’ve heard that we can do this once a year but am not sure how to go about it.

    Go to

If you go to any other ones, you’re going to get lumped into a subscription service. The link above is to the actual government sponsored program.

I used the website listed below. It was pretty easy as long as you have all of your info.

You’d have to go in person to your local Retail Merchants Association and make sure you bring some ID. It’s not a good idea to do this online because of the high risk of identity theft.

And yes you get put into a subscription service….But it only emails you to tell you when you can pull another credit report.

Or at least that is what I have noticed

You can receive a free credit report whenever you are declined credit by a lender. Include the letter from the lender with your request to the credit bureau. The mailing address for the three major credit reporting agencies; Experian, Trans Union and Equifax can be found on our site. You can also receive a complimentary credit report from . I subscribe to a credit monitoring service, they offer a free credit report as well. I get an updated credit report whenever there is a change to my credit report. It makes identity theft much harder for the bad guys. It has saved me money as well on a home refinance. Check our site for free credit report tips:
