Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, or FACT Act, any one is entitled to a free credit report once every twelve months from each of the three major credit bureaus. This means that you can apply either online or in writing to get your free annual credit report from Equifax, Experian, and Transunion. You can get your free annual credit report for all three by applying for it online at, or you can call them on the phone at 877-322-8228.

Be extra careful about impostor sites though. When you apply for your free annual credit report, caution is important. I suggest you check out. You might have heard of them before. They have comprehensive information on this topic.

annualcreditreport.com is the only really free way to get your credit, you can get one of each bureau for free every year. This website is government sponsored. Freecreditreport.com is sponsored by equifax and requires a membership in something and requires a cc#.

Don’t buy the scores for 4 dollars though because they are not real scores. You only can pull credit from one bureau every 12 months.
